We use the term furniture in our daily life and in this case it has the same meaning. If we look at the characteristics of these items, these are made by wood, iron and some other metals as well. Likewise they are required huge amount to buy some times hundreds and thousands or dollars. They can be used for a long time and reuse after completing their normal life that is 5 to 10 years usually. Functional and perfunctory items used to smooth the progress, process and manufacturing process called Equipment for example paper clips, hole punchers, photocopiers, multimedia, projectors, staplers, fax machine, telephone set, gas heater, air cooler, door locks, attendance machines, computers, holders, audio and video recorders, scanners and printers etc. as obvious from the list that office equipments are not less important than work place furniture. When talking about characteristics we see that equipment are different from furniture in many functions. For example they are technology based and systematic. As compare to furnishings items, equipments replaced soon by companies due to technological advancements. As compare to furnishings, equipments it selves and their maintenance cost is so high. Some time cast of one equipment items is equals to all furniture of office. So difference between office furniture and office equipment is actually characteristic and functional. From some aspects they are different and from some other they are same as well.
